Clemson Women’s Tennis Team To Host Georgia On Saturday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team will play host to the University of Georgia on Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. This will be the 46th meeting between the Tigers and Bulldogs, dating back to 1976. Clemson holds a slight 19-16 advantage in the all-time series. The teams have met in Clemson on 12 occassions, with each team winning six matches.

Last season, the Bulldogs, ranked #2 at the time, defeated Clemson in Athens by a score of 6-1. Clemson’s most recent victory over Georgia occured during the 1996 season when the two teams met in the NCAA Southeast Regional in Columbia, SC. In that match, the Tigers won a 5-4 decision over the Bulldogs. The Tigers’ most recent home victory over the Bulldogs was in 1981 when Clemson defeated Georgia by a score of 6-3.

Georgia enters this weekend’s match with a 5-1 overall record and a #3 ranking. Clemson owns a 3-3 record and is ranked 16th in the most recent ITA poll. First serve is slated for 12:00 PM on Saturday.
