Clemson Women?s Diving Team Honored by the CSCAA

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Women’s Diving Team was honored by the CSCAA (Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America) by being named a NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Scholar All-America Team.To achieve this honor a team needs to obtain a 3.0 GPA or higher during the academic year.As a team, Clemson was tied for sixth nationally having a 3.58 team GPA for the 2012-13 academic year.  This was also the highest GPA among ACC teams as well.Individually, the 2013 CSCAA NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Scholar All-America Honorable Mention awards went to Clemson divers Megan Helwagen and Emily Howard.

The Honorable Mention Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers, who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and have achieved a “B” time standard, but have not qualified to compete in their respective national championship. Divers qualify by competing at the NCAA Zone Diving championship qualifying meet.

“I am very proud of our ladies for their high achievements in the classroom,” said Clemson Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams.  It is great to see that our young team has quickly learned how to balance their collegiate life with academics and athletics.  Our academic advisor, Ginty Porter has done a fantastic job making sure that they are staying on top of their academic responsibilities. I will be looking forward to our teams’ continued success both in and out of the pool.”
