Clemson Women’s Cross Country Wins Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, SC – The Clemson women’s cross country team opened its 2004 campaign with a victory at the Gamecock Invitational. The Lady Tigers scored 32 points to win the meet, while host University of South Carolina tallied 42 points. Georgia Southern University took third place with 49 points.

Casey Phillips was the top finisher for the Lady Tigers, crossing the finish line in 18:21.14 to place second. Three other Lady Tigers also placed in the top 10. Jennifer Barton placed third with a personal-best time of 18:35.71 and Sudati Masasu took sixth place with her time of 19:06.26. Patrice McMillan recorded a time of 19:33.86 over the 5K course and Lauren Edwards and Thea Dix were 14th and 15th in 20:06.91 and 20:24.12, respectively. Katie Boehm also posted a top-20 finish as she placed 18th in 20:36.45. Laura Ann Rukat crossed the finish line in 20:45.46 and Jennifer Schweer ran a 21:06.11 in her first collegiate race. Jennifer Hooten recorded a time of 21:44.11 and Lauren Brewer finished the race in 21:45.71. Kerry Foltz posted a time of 22:19.22, Keri Deily finished in 22:55.90 and LaToya Woodberry ran a 25:07.90.

The Lady Tigers will return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 18, as they host the Clemson Invitational.
