Clemson Women’s Cross Country Team Finishes Second At Overton/Pirate Invitational

GREENVILLE, NC – The Clemson women’s cross country team finished second at the Overton/Pirate Invitational held Saturday at Lake Kristi. East Carolina University won the meet with 32 points, while Clemson tallied 43 points to finish second. Virginia Commonwealth University took third with 58 points, and UNC Wilmington scored 101 points for fourth place. Charleston Southern University finished fifth with 147 points, and Barton College rounded out the field with 159 points.

Casey Phillips won the meet, covering the 5K course in a lifetime-best 17:43.83 for her first collegiate title. Hannah Wright was 11th in 18:58.94, and Jennifer Barton completed the course in 19:05.99 to place 13th. Laura Ann Rukat ran a time of 19:20.16 to place 16th, and Jennifer Hooten was 30th with a time of 20:19.26. Katie Boehm recorded a time of 21:01.99 to place 38th, and Keri Deily was 42nd with a time of 21:20.49.

The Lady Tiger cross country team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, as Clemson hosts the 2003 Clemson Invitational.
