Clemson Women’s Cross Country Finishes Ninth At 2002 ACC Cross Country Championships

ATLANTA, GA – The Clemson women’s cross country team competed at the 2002 ACC Championships Saturday at the Georgia Regional Hospital Cross Country Course. North Carolina State and Wake Forest tied for this year’s team title with 61 points each. Virginia placed third with 78 points, Duke was fourth with 81 points and North Carolina tallied 88 points for fifth place. Florida State recorded 134 points for sixth place, Maryland was seventh (203 pts.), Georgia Tech was eighth with 214 points and Clemson rounded out the field with 284 points.

Freshman Casey Phillips led the Lady Tigers as she covered the 6K course in 24:21.9 to finish 53rd. Laura Ann Rukat was 55th in 24:54.4, and Jennifer Barton placed 57th with a time of 25:34.7. Jennifer Hooten recorded a time of 26:05.0 to finish 59th, while Shannon Day and Tiffany Charles were 60th and 61st with times of 26:33.1 and 27:50.1, respectively.
