Clemson Women’s Basketball Falls To Belmont, 85-62, In Memphis Lady Tiger Classic

MEMPHIS, TN – The Lady Tiger basketball team was defeated on Friday in the Lady Tiger Thanksgiving Classic at the Elma Roane Field House on the campus of the University of Memphis. The Belmont Bruins handed Clemson an 85-62 defeat to improve to 3-0 for the year, while the Lady Tigers remain winless in five tries for the 2005-06 season.

Clemson was unable to stop the Bruins’ Alysha Clark as she scored 36 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the game. She was 13-21 from the field and 10-15 from the foul line. Jenny Conkle added 22 for Belmont, hitting seven of 12 three-point field goals.

Adrianne Bradshaw led the Lady Tiger squad with 15 points and four rebounds in 24 minutes of play. Senior Khaili Sanders also scored in double figures for Clemson, posting 10 for the night.

Bradshaw provided a spark off the bench for the Lady Tigers in the first half, scoring seven points in just under four minutes in the middle of the period. Khaili Sanders made a field goal with 30 seconds remaining in the half.

The Bruins came out firing in the second period, knocking down three three-pointer within the first seven minutes. Belmont then went on a run where Conkle hit three straight field goals from behind the arc and Clark scored 20 points in the half to give the Bruins the 85-62 victory.

Clemson will face host Memphis on Saturday in the consolation game of the Lady Tiger Thanksgiving Classic. The battle of Lady Tigers will begin at 5:00 PM, Central Standard Time, in Memphis, TN. Fans can follow the action on the radio on WCCP (104.9 FM) or via the Internet on Yahoo! radio.
