CLEMSON, SC – The 2006-07 Clemson women’s basketball schedule was announced on Friday by the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Lady Tigers will play a 14-game league schedule for the third straight year, featuring home-and-home contests with Florida State, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. The 15-game non-conference schedule is highlighted by a Thanksgiving tournament in Orono, ME and a trip to Nashville, TN to face Vanderbilt in a nationally televised game by ESPN2.
Clemson will play host to Arkansas on Nov. 10, the earliest season opener in program history, and will welcome the College of Charleston and Chattanooga to Littlejohn Coliseum before hitting the road to face in-state rival South Carolina on Nov. 20. The Lady Tigers will participate in a Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Maine that also includes St. John’s and Brown. Clemson and St. John’s are scheduled to open the tournament on Friday, Nov. 25. The Red Storm are one of five schools that the Lady Tigers will face for the first time in history this season and are one of 10 teams on Clemson’s schedule that earned a bid to the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
The Lady Tigers will return home to clash with Furman on Nov. 29 and will then face Vanderbilt and James Madison on the road. In other non-conference action, Clemson will play home games against Kennesaw State, Dayton and Wofford, while traveling to Tennessee Tech and Duquesne.
Clemson’s ACC season opens with a televised contest at Wake Forest on Jan. 5, one of three conference games schedule for television broadcast on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network. The Lady Tigers’ games at Duke on Feb. 5 and Georgia Tech on Feb. 19 will also be shown on RSN. The Blue Devils, along with North Carolina and defending NCAA champion Maryland, are one of three 2006 Final Four teams on Clemson’s schedule, with the semifinalist Tar Heels and Terrapins both making the trip to Tigertown. The Lady Tigers will face North Carolina on Jan. 11 and Maryland on Jan. 23. Clemson will also play host to ACC foes Virginia Tech and Virginia, while facing Georgia Tech, Florida State and Wake Forest in Littlejohn Coliseum and on the road.
The Lady Tigers will make their first trip in history to Boston College on Jan. 21 and will also travel to Miami and NC State this season, in addition to match-ups at Duke, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Wake Forest.
The 2007 ACC Tournament will be played from Mar. 1-4 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC.
