Clemson Women Record Six Top-10 Finishes at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Clemson women’s track & field team posted six top-10 performances to highlight its appearance at the 106th annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

Individually Nyjla Littlejohn finished eighth in the 400m hurdles. Her time of 59.46 was the second-fastest time in her heat. Sheri Smith leapt 39-1 to place 10th in the triple jump while Kammie Blount recorded a heave of 131-3 to finish 10th in the javelin throw. Keke Elder was 17th in the preliminaries of the 100m hurdles, and did not advance to the final round.

Three Tiger relays raced to top-10 marks, including the 4x100m relay that finished eighth. Shannon Murray, Marcia Smith, LaShonda Cutchin and Keke Elder teamed to run 46.15 in the finals after advancing from the preliminaries in a time of 46.32.

The 4x200m relay team was 10th. The same foursome joined to win its heat in a time of 1:37.74, but did not advance to the final round. The distance medley relay team was also 10th. Jennifer Meador, Nyjla Littlejohn, Beth Ahern and Anne Stowell went 11:52.37 in the final.

Clemson will not compete this week because of finals, but will return May 12-13 to host the Orange and Purple Classic.
