Clemson Will Play Davidson and Winthrop Saturday

CLEMSON, SC-The Clemson men’s tennis team will play Davidson and Winthrop at Davidson, NC Saturday. Clemson will play Winthrop at 10:00 a.m. and Davidson at 3:00 p.m.  The matches will be played at the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center on the Davidson College campus.    This will be the season opener for Davidson.    Winthrop is 0-1 on the year after losing to Wake Forest on Monday night.     The Tigers are ranked 60th nationally and have a 1-0 record this season after defeating Furman 7-0 on Wednesday evening.        Clemson’s Yannick Maden is ranked 75th in singles in the preseason rankings.    The doubles team of Yannick Maden and his brother Dominique Maden are ranked 18th nationally. This will be the 10th meeting between Clemson and Davidson on the tennis courts.    The Wildcats lead the series 5-4.    The first meeting occurred in 1923.   This will be the third meeting between Clemson and Winthrop in men’s tennis.     The Tigers lead the overall series 2-0.
