Clemson vs. South Carolina Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES

  • Clemson defeated South Carolina by a score of 71-57 on Sunday. It was the Tigers’ second straight win in the series and eighth in the last 10 games versus the Gamecocks.
  • The Tigers improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2010-11, Brad Brownell‘s first season at Clemson.
  • Clemson recorded 12 blocked shots Sunday, its highest figure since also posting 12 at home against Arizona at home on Dec. 8, 2012.
  • The Tigers made 24 out of 26 free throws in Sunday’s game, a school record .923 figure given a minimum of 25 attempts. It was the fifth-best overall, with a 15-shot minimum.
  • Clemson has held all three of its opponents below 40 percent from the field, and the Tiger scoring defense is yielding just 48.3 points per game.
  • The Tigers held the Gamecocks scoreless for a period of 7:04 in the opening half and extended its lead on a 7-0 run.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • K.J. McDaniels produced a career-high 21 points to lead all scorers Sunday. The junior made 7-of-12 field goals and all six of his free throws.
  • McDaniels recorded his first career double-double, as he added the first double digit rebound total (10) of his career Sunday.
  • McDaniels upped his streak of games with at least one blocked shot to 20 after a two-handed stuff at the rim to prompt the first media timeout.
  • McDaniels went on to record seven blocks in the game, his high figure since the Jan. 15, 2013 home game against Wake Forest.
  • Jordan Roper extended his streak of games with at least one three-point goal to 12 on his second attempt of the afternoon.
  • Roper posted double figures in the scoring column Sunday, his first this season. The sophomore from Columbia, SC finished with 15 points.
  • Roper made all eight of his free throw attempts Sunday, the best perfect shooting game at the stripe of his career.
  • Rod Hall scored double figures for the second time in three games this season, and for the second time in three career outings against South Carolina.
  • In three games against the Gamecocks, Hall is averaging 11.7 points per game and has made 8-of-14 field goals and 18-of-23 at the free throw line.
  • Hall and Roper combined to tally eight assists against only one turnover in 62 minutes.
  • Adonis Filer scored a season-high eight points and made at least one three for a third straight game. He is 4-for-5 from beyond the arc through three games for Clemson.
  • Ibrahim Djambo made his first three-point shot as a Tiger in the second half and finished with a season-high eight points in 20 minutes.
