Clemson vs. Florida A&M postgame notes

Clemson vs. Florida A&M postgame notes

Team Notes

• Clemson posted 21 assists versus only five turnovers Friday. The assist mark was one off Clemson’s high of 22 under Brad Brownell, which occurred in 2012-13 against SC State.

• Eleven of the 12 available players for the Tigers scored in the opener, including walk-on Riley McGillan who sank his first career shot attempt in the final minute.

• The Tigers forced 24 turnovers, one off the program’s high total under Brownell. The 2012-13 team forced 25 in a win over The Citadel.

• Clemson had six blocks in the opener. The Tigers averaged six per game last season in leading the ACC.

• The 45-point margin of victory was Clemson’s largest in a season opener since the 2007-08 team defeated Furman 91-46 on Nov. 12.

• Clemson is now 29-2 under Brownell when holding the opposition to 50 points or less. He won his 75th game as the Tigers’ head coach this evening.

• The Tigers held Florida A&M without a three-point field goal, the first time Clemson pitched a shutout in that area since a game against Furman on Dec. 13, 2009. That is a span of 155 games since the Tigers held an opponent without a three.

Individual Notes

Landry Nnoko had 15 points Friday, a career-high for the junior. His previous high was 13 on two occasions in 2013-14.

• Nnoko had one blocked shot and has now had at least one in 10 consecutive games, dating to last season.

Rod Hall matched his career-high with 10 assists. Coincidentally, his previous high was also against Florida A&M, as a sophomore.

• Hall did not commit a turnover, one shy of the Clemson record for assists in a game without a turnover (Grayson Marshall).

Donte Grantham had 12 points in his debut, most by a Tiger in his first game since the 2009-10 season.
