Clemson Volleyball’s Zoric To Participate In NCAA Leadership Conference

May 21, 2003

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson volleyball player Marija Zoric has been chosen to participate in the 2003 NCAA Leadership Conference, May 25-29 at the Coronado Springs Resort and Walt Disney World Sports Complex in Orlando, FL. The Yugoslavia native will be one of 302 student-athletes at the conference.

The conference is designed for student-athletes to discuss key issues collectively, and to provide them with an opportunity to enhance skills, which will enable them to become more effective leaders and motivators when they return to their campuses. The leadership conference also provides student-athletes with exercises to enhance their decision-making and problem-solving skills and to improve planning and priority management. This year’s group of student athletes will represent 22 sports in Divisions I, II and III.

Zoric, a senior from Belgrade Yugoslavia, was named to the Verizon Academic All-District III team in November. During the 2002 season, she led the team in total blocks with 147 and blocks per game with a 1.20 average, ranking her second in the conference. The middle hitter ranks third on Clemson’s all-time leader career list in blocks per game with a 1.13 average. Zoric was named to the 2002 Four Points Sheraton/Red Raider Classic All-Tournament team in Lubbock, TX. She was also selected by the President’s Commission on the Status of Women at Clemson University as the 2003 outstanding woman in the undergraduate category, and was honored with the Susan Delony Academic Achievement Award in March.
