Clemson Volleyball’s Brittany Fennell Selected For USA/BIP Development Team

June 19, 2009

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson volleyball rising sophomore Brittany Fennell has been selected to the USA/BIP Development team for play in July’s Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia. Fennell is one of 12 collegiate players that will make up the team, which is arranged by Bring It Promotions in conjunction with USA Volleyball.

The players will meet in Switzerland to train for six days before competing at the Global Challenge from July 18-23. The event will feature 16 teams from eight different countries.

Fennell started 21 matches for the Tigers in 2008 but missed eight matches at the end of the season due to an emergency appendectomy. The middle blocker from Hendersonville, NC posted 111 kills and hit at a .258 clip, while ranking third on the team with 83 total blocks in her first collegiate season. She was named the team’s Rookie-of-the-Year and recorded some of the top marks for a freshman in a single match with a 10-kill, 10-block assist performance against Virginia in Charlottesville in September. Fennell earned a starting position by the second weekend of play and held the spot until being medically sidelined.

Bring It Promotions was founded in 1997 by Tim Kelly, a former UCLA All-American and five-year European professional veteran. The organization operates several Exposure Tours each year for collegiate players to promote themselves to European professional volleyball.
