Clemson Volleyball to Play in Atlanta Invitational

April 3, 2010

ATLANTA, GA – The Clemson volleyball team will open their spring season with the Atlanta Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The Tigers will take on Auburn at 9:00 am at Georgia State. The winner will go on to play the winner of the College of Charleston-South Alabama matchup at Georgia Tech’s O’Keefe Gymnasium at 11:00 am.

The tournament features three NCAA Tournament teams, including Clemson. Other teams in the tournament include Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Georgia, Troy, and Georgia State. Each team is guaranteed three matches, with winners’ and losers’ brackets.

After the tournament in Atlanta, the Tigers will play two more dates, with a home match with Furman schedule for Wed. April 7 at 7:15 pm, and the Clemson Spring Tournament, which takes place on Sat. April 10.

The Tigers lost four seniors from last season’s 23-10 campaign, which saw Clemson reach the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. The Tigers fell to the #14 overall seed, Oregon, in Lexington.

Clemson lost All-ACC performers Lia Proctor, and Didem Ege. Ege was also the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 after setting the ACC record for digs.

However, Cansu Ozdemir is Clemson’s lone senior for 2010.
