The Clemson Tiger volleyball team will play host to the Wofford Terriers on Wednesday Sept. 18. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m at Jervey Gym.
The Tigers enter Wednesday’s match with a 4-6 record, having lost to Texas Tech and Arizona State in the Four Points Sheraton/Red Raider Classic held last weekend in Lubbock, TX. On the season, Clemson is 0-3 in away matches, 0-3 at neutral sites, but a perfect 4-0 at home. The Tigers have posted wins against Georgia, East Carolina, George Mason and Jacksonville in Jervey Gym. Clemson is on a six-game home winning streak dating back to Nov. 6, 2001 when the Tigers defeated Furman.
Sophomore Lori Ashton leads the Tigers with 136 kills and a 3.49 kills per game average, and junior Marija Zoric leads the team with a .352 hitting percentage. Zoric also leads the Tigers at the net with 41 blocks (nine solo). Senior Jessi Betcher has recorded a team-high 118 digs and has handed out 422 assists. Sophomore Ryane Beasley is second on the team in kills with 124, and freshman Carly Hill has served up a team-best 17 aces.
This will be the first meeting between Clemson and Wofford. The Tigers are 84-24 all-time against Southern Conference teams, with a 32-5 record in Jervey Gym. Under head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover, Clemson has posted an 18-1 record over teams from the Southern Conference.
