Clemson Volleyball To Play Host To Georgia State

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team will play host to the Georgia State Lady Panthers Tuesday night. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Jervey Gym. Admission is free to all Tiger home volleyball matches.

Clemson is 8-2 against the Lady Panthers, and holds a 5-1 advantage over Georgia State at Jervey Gym. The Tigers and Lady Panthers last met on the court in 1999, when Clemson defeated Georgia State in Atlanta, 3-0. Clemson (6-14, 2-10 ACC) is led by Jodi Steffes who has a team-best 283 kills and a 3.88 kills per game average. Steffes and Jessi Betcher have served up a team-high 29 aces, and Betcher leads the team in assists with 746 (10.22 apg) and digs (196). Lori Ashton has a team-best 59 blocks (15 solo), and leads the team with a .285 hitting percentage.

Georgia State enters Tuesday night’s match with a 20-7 overall record and an 8-1 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Anna Popenko leads the Lady Panthers with 331 kills, a 4.53 kills per game average and a .379 hitting percentage. Popenko also leads the Lady Panthers in digs with 244 (3.34 dpg). April DeCoste has handed out a team-best 893 assists, and Jen Rizzo has 46 service aces. Randi Van Dam has a team-high 91 blocks (31 solo).
