Clemson Volleyball To Host NC State

CLEMSON, SC-The Clemson volleyball team will host ACC NC State Friday evening at Jervey Gym. The match between the Tigers (12-16, 5-9 ACC) and Wolfpack (8-20, 1-14 ACC) is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.

North Carolina State defeated Virginia Tech on Nov. 4 to halt a seven-match losing streak dating back to Oct. 14. NC State has not won a conference match since defeating Duke 3-0 on Oct. 13. The Wolfpack most recently lost a 3-0 decision to Georgia Tech in Atlanta last Tuesday.

Charece Williams leads the Wolfpack in kills with 449 kills on the season and a 4.01 kills per game average. Meredith Price has tallied a team-high 30 service aces and also leads the team in digs with 308 (2.77 dpg). Crystal Shannon is NC State’s assist leader with 1111 and a 10.89 assists per game average. Alison Kreager has a team-best 108 total blocks with 29 solos blocks on the year.

In their last meeting on Sept. 22, Clemson defeated NC State 3-2 (18-16, 4-15, 13-15, 15-12, 10-15). Jodi Steffes had 15 kills and just three errors, with a match-high18 digs to lead the Tigers. Meredith Kirtland had 15 kills,15 digs and two service aces, while Anne Berki had a match high five block assists and one solo block. Setter Jessi Betcher had 47 assists, a service ace, 17 digs and a block assist for the Tigers. The Wolfpack was led by Charee Williams with 22 kills and 13 digs with a solo and a block assist. Meredith Price led NC State in digs with 16. Crystal Shannon dished out a match-high 70 assists with two service aces and 11 digs.

The all-time series between the Tigers and the Wolfpack is tied at 17-17. Clemson is 9-4 at home against NC State, and the Tigers are 12-2 against the Wolfpack since Coach Hoover took over the program in 1993. The Tigers’ most recent loss to NC State was in 1995 when the Wolfpack defeated Clemson 3-1 at Jervey Gym.

Jodi Steffes leads the Tigers in total kills (410) with a 4.27 kills per game average. Steffes also has a team-best 318 digs with 3.31 digs per game. Jessi Betcher is the assist leader with 1166 assists this season (11.90 assists per game). Betcher also leads the team in aces per game with a 0.28 per game average (27 total). Jackie Dalleska has a team-best 68 blocks with a 0.80 blocks per game average.
