CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team is joining the fight against breast cancer by hosting a Dig for the Cure event for the third straight season. Volleyball teams nationwide participate in the promotion to raise money for breast cancer awareness and monies raised at Clemson will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
The Tigers’ Dig for the Cure match will be held on Friday, Oct. 31, as Clemson takes on the Virginia Cavilers at 7:00 PM in Jervey Gym. Fans can either pledge an amount per dig accumulated by the Tigers during the match or make a flat donation. Pledges and donations are currently being accepted at all home volleyball matches.
Fans have several other options to participate in this year’s event. Throughout the month of October, special Dig for the Cure pink T-Shirts will be sold at all home matches, with 100% of the proceeds from the sales of these shirts going to Dig for the Cure.
Secondly, Firehouse Subs, a sponsor of Clemson volleyball, will be offering fans another way to contribute. Throughout October, Firehouse has designated the Hook and Ladder sandwich as their “Pink Sub of the Month,” giving a portion of the proceeds from each of these subs sold back to Dig for the Cure. In addition, Firehouse Subs will donate 10% of all sales on the evening of October 29 towards Dig for the Cure. The volleyball team will be at Firehouse Subs on College Avenue in Clemson and will sign autographs that night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Finally, on the day of the match, fans in attendance will be able to honor any loved ones who have been affected by breast cancer by purchasing a pink ribbon, which will be displayed in Jervey Gym.
The Clemson Athletic Department would like to thank Tiger Town Graphics for their title sponsorship, Firehouse Subs for their contributions, and Central Spirit.
Remember to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness and come out to Jervey Gym on October 31 at 7:00 PM to help the Clemson volleyball team defeat the Cavaliers and fight breast cancer all in one night!
