Clemson Volleyball to Compete in Four Points Sheraton/Red Raider Classic

The Clemson volleyball team will travel to Lubbock, TX, to play Texas Tech and Arizona State in the Four Points Sheraton/Red Raider Classic on Sept. 13-14.

The Tigers enter the tournament with a 4-4 record, having lost to 23rd-ranked South Carolina Tuesday in a five-game thriller in Columbia, SC. Clemson opened the season 0-3 at the Howdy’s Pepperdine Classic, but rebounded to win their next four matches against Georgia, East Carolina, George Mason and Jacksonville. On the season, Clemson is 0-2 in away matches, 0-2 at neutral sites, but a perfect 4-0 at home.

Ashton leads the Tigers with 112 kills and a .380 hitting percentage, and Ryane Beasley is second on the team with 99 kills and a 3.30 kills per game average. Senior Jessi Betcher has handed out 338 assists, while recording a team-best 88 digs. Lindsey Abbott is second on the team in digs with 76, and Marija Zoric leads the Tigers at the net with 29 total blocks (seven solo).

Clemson and Arizona State have never met on the court before. The Tigers are 0-2 against teams from the Pacific-10 Conference. This will also be the first meeting between the Tigers and Red Raiders. Clemson is 1-2 all-time against teams from the Big 12, with losses to Missouri and Colorado.

Clemson’s first game is on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:00 p.m. (CST) against Texas Tech. On Saturday the Tigers will face Arizona St. at 4:00 p.m. (CST).
