Clemson Volleyball Holds on Against Georgia

April 4, 2012

The Clemson volleyball team withstood a major rally from Georgia, and finished on a 4-0 run to win a spring exhibition match, 3-2 (25-19, 25-8, 23-25, 17-25, 16-14), on Wednesday at Jervey Gym. The Tigers have won both spring matches thus far, and have one more remaining next Wednesday at South Carolina in Columbia.

Clemson led in almost every statistical category, thanks in large part to a 25-8 second set victory, in which they hit. 538 and did not allow Georgia to score consecutive points.

Clemson took the first two sets, before the Bulldogs rallied to force a fifth set, where they held a 14-12 lead. But Clemson reeled off four straight to win.

Mo Simmons had 17 kills and hit .421 to lead Clemson, while Serenat Yaz and Sandra Adeleye each had 16 kills. Kristin Faust also chipped in with 11 kills. Libero Natalie Patzin led the Tigers with 17 digs, while Simmons added 15 of her own. Clemson had nine team blocks, and Yaz, Brenner, and Alexa Rand had three apiece.
