Clemson Volleyball Falls To Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-21, 30-27, 30-22) match to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons Saturday night at Reynolds Gym. The Tigers fall to 6-12 overall and 2-8 in the league, while Wake Forest improves to 12-8 overall and 5-5 in the ACC.

Clemson was led by junior setter, Jessi Betcher, who tallied five service aces, tying a career-best effort she set against Kentucky in 1999. Betcher also led the team in assists with 22 and in digs with 10, while freshman setter Breezy Ambort added 13 assists. Jodi Steffes and Ryane Beasley tallied 10 kills each, and Lori Ashton recorded a team-best three blocks (two solo).

Wake Forest’s Margaret Davidson led all hitters with 12 kills, while Trina Maso de Moya and Sara Beth DeLisle added 11 kills each. Maso de Moya led the team in digs with 17 as well as in service aces with five. Ashlee Phillips handed out a match-high 40 assists, and Davidson led the team in blocks with six (two solo).

Clemson returns home to take on Georgia Tech Tuesday night, Oct. 23, at Jervey Gym. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m. and admission to all Tiger volleyball matches is free.
