Clemson, SC – The Clemson volleyball team earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory over N.C. State (30-22, 23-30, 30-28, 30-28) on Saturday at Jervey Gym. A crowd of 1,008 saw the Tigers improve to 11-14 on the season, 6-11 in the ACC. The Wolfpack fell to 7-19, 1-17 in conference play.
Leading the Tigers was Jeannette Abbott with 23 kills. She hit .273 and contributed nine digs. Meghan Steiner hit .400 to lead Clemson in terms of percentage and also totaled seven blocks in the match. Meghan Stanton also hit .500 on her senior day. Anna Vallinch led the Tigers with 19 digs, while Danielle Hepburn contributed five blocks. The Tigers had 12.0 team blocks.
For N.C. State, Stefani Eddins led the way with 19 kills and hit an incredible .667 in the four games. The Wolfpack recorded 16.0 team blocks, including 10 by Eddins.
The Tigers took game one by a score of 30-22, thanks in large part to a .310 hitting percentage compared to just .095 for the Wolfpack. In the second game, N.C. State rebounded with a 30-23 win after hitting .270 and totaling 3.0 team blocks. In the third game, back-and-forth action saw the Tigers claim a late lead and pull out the 30-28 win. Vallinch had eight digs in this game. In the fourth and final game, the Tigers once again posted a comeback and claimed another 30-28 win. This game, Steiner had four kills and three block assists to lead the way.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, November 15 and will play host to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the final home match of the season.
