CHESTNUT HILL, MA – The Clemson volleyball team traveled into Eagle country to take on Boston College on Friday and came out with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-20)victory, the sixth consecutive ACC win for the Tigers. The Tigers move to 14-5 (6-2 ACC) on the year while the Eagles fall to 6-14 (0-8 ACC).
Danielle Hepburn led all players with 12 kills on the night and picked up four blocks to bring her career total 604 blocks, six short of the school record. The Tigers’ defense was equally tout, holding the Eagles to a .125 figure and had nine total blocks on the night.
The third and deciding set was a see-saw affair, with the Tigers and Eagles swapping points. The Tigers were able to get breathing room late in the set on a Kelsey Murphy block and kill to put the Tigers up 21-15. The Eagles made a run back to 22-19, but the Tigers closed with a 3-1 run. Murphy recorded 13 assists to lead the Tigers to a .351 clip, as Hepburn and Proctor notched five kills each.
The Tigers rushed out to a 3-0 lead in the first set behind two aces from Cansu Ozdemir. After a Jeannette Abbott kill put the score at 17-11, the Tigers closed out the match on a 8-3 run to close out the set behind a block and two kills from Danielle Hepburn.
In the second set, Kelsey Murphy guided the Tigers to a .324 hitting percentage, recording 10 assists in the set. Lia Proctor recorded four kills while three other Tigers notched three apiece. Clemson jumped out to a 8-2 lead behind two kills from Proctor and Hepburn, and finished the set on a 7-0 run, as freshman Brittany Fennell recorded three of the last four points on kills.
The Tigers will return to action on Sunday as they travel to College Park, MD to play the Terrapins, who play host to Georgia Tech this evening.
