Clemson Volleyball Closes Regular Season Wednesday Against Georgia Tech

Match Notes 

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team will conclude regular season play on Wednesday with a 6:30 pm match against Georgia Tech (15-15, 8-11 ACC) in Atlanta at O’Keefe Gym. Clemson (19-11, 11-8 ACC)enters the match coming off a win over No. 22 Miami on Saturday to close the home portion of the schedule.

With a win, Clemson will assure itself fifth place in the conference, two places ahead of the preseason prediction. The 64-team NCAA field will be announced on Sunday at 6:00 pm on ESPNU.

Clemson holds a 34-23 all-time mark over the Yellow Jackets, and five of the past six matches have gone to five sets. The Tigers won by a 3-0 count earlier this season as part of the Clemson Classic in September.

Several Tigers enter the match playing good volleyball, including ACC Volleyball Co-Player of the Week Serenat Yaz, who posted 43 kills in nine sets against Florida State and Miami. She also had double-doubles in both matches, and has 13 total on the year.

Freshman Kristin Faustwas named ACC Freshman of the Week after hitting .400 with 12 kills, and picked up 25 digs against the two ranked teams over the weekend.

Sandra Adeleye hit a new career-high in kills with 27 against the `Canes, and Hannah Brennerhad 68 assists, the most in a match by a Tiger since 2006, as Clemson posted 76 total kills. She also added a career-best 18 digs, which gave her a 14th double-double of the season, tops on the team.

Additionally, Alexa Randis second in the ACC and tenth nationally in blocking, and has already got her hands on 169 this season.

Georgia Tech enters having lost four in a row, but features a potent attack that features Monique Mead, who ranks second nationally in kills per set. In the first meeting, she had just 11 kills, while hitting nine errors.
