CLEMSON, SC–The Clemson University athletic department and its exclusive radio and televison rights holder, The Clemson Tiger Network, (CTN) announced radio and television flagship affiliates for play-by-play, coaches shows and highlight replay coverage today at the Clemson Spring Football game.

Station WPEK FM “The Peak” (98.1 FM) will be the CTN flagship radio outlet for Clemson football and basketball and “Tiger Calls,” a weekly call in show featuring Clemson coaches and news about Clemson athletics. The powerful FM station with studios in Greenville, broadcasts at 100,000 watts and covers almost the entire upstate area, as well as parts of North Carolina and Georgia.

The flagship station for women’s basketball and baseball will be WGOG “Apple 96.3” with studios and offices in Walhalla and Seneca. WGOG has been an affiliate of Clemson athletics since 1959 and Is one of the longest continuous affiliates of Clemson University athletics.

“We are proud of our Clemson sports heritage and look forward to continue giving this area a total coverage of Clemson sports,” said Luzanna Griffith, Owner and General Manager. “Apple 96.3” will provide football and men’s basketball coverage as well as “Tiger Calls.”

Pave McDaniel, head of broadcast services and affiliate relations for CTN and Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd. states, “we are working hard to finalize the affiliate list for the coming year. The radio broadcast will be entirely digital, allowing for the highest quality of sound in the industry.”

Statioin WBSC-TV (WB-40) will be the flagship television affiliate for the telecast of football and men’s basketball coaches’ shows. The programs will air in Greenville at 11:00 PM each Sunday night. Similar clearance times will be in place throughout the state.

“After discussions with Coach Tommy Bowden and others in the athletic department, we felt it important to move the shows to a consistent time position that will not interfere with important family time on Sunday mornings. The later position also provides an opportunity for the show to be available to a broader audience,” noted CTN General Manager Brenda Rabon. “The show will also air in a prime time position on COLLEGE SPORTS Southeast, which also will make the shows available to a much wider audience” she concluded.

CTN will utilize its relationship with COLLEGE SPORTS Southeast to provide weekly highlight replay telecasts of every Clemson football game, selected women’s basketball games, as well as baseball and other sports to cable system operators throughout a nine state area. COLLEGE SPORTS Southeast is a cable television and interactive web network with programming focused on college athletics in a nine state area to include: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Clemson Tiger Network and the Clemson Athletic Department. Clemson athletics will be a tremendous asset to our programming lineup,” said Gary Andrich, general manager of COLLEGE SPORTS Southeast.

The CTN radio football broadcast team will include “the voice of the Clemson Tigers” Jim Phillips, as play-by-play announcer and former Clemson quarterback Mike Eppley as football color analyst. Former Clemson quarterback Rodney Williams will serve as sideline and locker room correspondent adding his unique insight to the broadcast.

Veteran sports broadcaster Doug Bell will handle replay television play-by-play duties with Cecil “Wootie” Ingram assisting as color analyst. “I look forward to calling all the Clemson Tiger games for CTN and COLLEGE SPORTS Southeast,” noted Bell. “Clemson University has a rich football tradition and is one of the strongest football programs in the ACC. Hootie and I are very excited to be a part of the Clemson athletic family.”

“We are very excited about our relationship with Collegiate Sports Partners and the Clemson Tiger Network,” said Tim Match, associate athletic director of Clemson University. “The programming and Clemson affiliates made available to Clemson through CSP and CTN will benefit not only our football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball programs, but will assist in providing additional exposure for many of our national-caliber Olympic sports programs as well.”
