Meet Program: Friday
Clemson, SC – The Clemson track & field program will host the school’s only home outdoor meet of the season this Friday and Saturday at the Rock Norman Track. The Orange & Purple Classic will get started with field events at 3:30 and track events at 5:00 on Friday, followed by a 10:00 AM start time for multiple events Saturday.
Twelve of Clemson’s regional qualifiers are slated to be in action this weekend, including the team’s entire stable of sprinters. C.J. Spiller are all scheduled for the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events. Ford and Guy are regional qualifiers in all three, while Spiller has also qualified in the 100m dash. Murdock and Spiller will be looking for qualifying times in the 200m this weekend. All three events will be held Saturday, with the 4x100m relay at 11:30 AM, the 100m dash at 1:05, and 200m dash at 2:25.
Friday’s action will feature Clemson’s top throwers, Nikola Lomnicka for the women’s team. The women’s hammer will be at 3:30, followed by the men’s competition. George Fields, a regional qualifier, is scheduled for the long jump at that time Friday as well.
In addition to the sprinters, Clemson will have a full field of competitors Saturday. The first event of the morning is the women’s javelin throw at 10:00. School record-holder Carlin Bartlett, and Kathleen Majester in the vault.
Scott Pauga, a regional qualifier in the men’s javelin, will compete in that event at 12:00 noon. He ranks sixth on the school’s all-time performance list. Multi-event athlete Miller Moss will get his first extensive work of the outdoor season this weekend. The Sumter, SC product is scheduled to compete in the 110m hurdles, long jump, discus, and javelin.
Among the women’s track athletes, Kristine Scott will be Clemson’s headliner this weekend. Already a regional qualifier in two events, she will look to improve her times in both the 100m dash (1:15) and 200m dash (2:40) on Saturday. Clemson’s final action of the weekend will be in the women’s 5K, which will feature Kim Ruck, who was a scorer in the 10K at the ACC meet in April. The event is slated for 3:20 PM.
