Clemson Track & Field Set for Busy Weekend

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men and women are set for a busy weekend in track & field, as it will host over 1,300 athletes at the school’s indoor complex for the Tiger Paw Invitational, in addition to traveling groups to meets in Fayetteville, AR and Blacksburg, VA.  All told, Clemson will take part in three meets this weekend.  The Tiger Paw Invitational will be held Friday and Saturday, with live results available at TimingInc.com. The Tiger Paw gets underway at 2:00 PM on Friday with multiple field events and the qualifying rounds of the 60 dash and 60 hurdles.  Clemson sprinter Tevin Hester, fresh off a pair of top-four finishes at the Armory Collegiate, is set for both the 60 and 200.  On the women’s side, Dezerea Bryant, Jasmine Edgerson and Stormy Kendrick are slated for both invitational short sprints.  Invitational section finals for the 60 dash will be held at 3:20, followed by the 60 hurdles at 3:35.  Invitational finals for the 200 are set for 5:05 (women) and 5:20 (men). Clemson will also hold invitational sections for the 800 meters on Friday.  Brianna Blanton headlines the Tiger women’s group in the first final of the 800.  On the men’s side, Aaron Ramirez will be one of the favorites in the 800.  Ramirez is also slated for the mile, which will also include Tiger standout Ty McCormack, on Saturday afternoon at 1:15 PM. Clemson will compete a number of athletes in the 400 dash on Saturday, led by the nation’s top hurdler, Spencer Adams.  He owns the best time in the country in the 60 hurdles, but will focus on the 400 dash at 3:15 Saturday.  Brunson Miller, fifth in school history, is slated for the top section of the quarter mile as well, alongside veteran La’Mont Jackson. Clemson will send its jumpers and throwers to Virginia Tech’s Rector Field House for the “Doc” Hale Elite Meet on Friday and Saturday.  The men’s and women’s long jump is set for 5:00 PM Friday, with the women’s weight throw featuring Brittney Waller at the same time.  The men’s weight follows at 7:00.  On Saturday, the high jump, pole vault, triple jump and shot put will be held.  Freshman sensation Mimi Land will be among those in action, as will Lauren Terstappen in the vault fresh off a 13-foot clearance last weekend. A final group of Tigers will head to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, AR.  The women’s 4×400 relay will attempt to improve on its season-best 3:38.06, achieved last week at the Armory Collegiate Invitational.  Those traveling to Tyson will include Nnenya Hailey, Keni Harrison, Keisha Richburg and Marlena Wesh.
