Clemson To Meet South Carolina In Women’s Basketball

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will play host to South Carolina Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum.

The Lady Tigers have a 2-1 record overall this season. Clemson opened the season with wins over East Carolina and Illinois at home. The Lady Tigers lost to UMass 57-54 on the road last Sunday.

Clemson is led in scoring by Chrissy Floyd with a 16.0 ppg. average. Krystal Scott has a 15.3 ppg. average this season. Floyd leads the Lady Tigers in rebounding with a 5.7 rpg. mark. Lady Tiger Head Coach Jim Davis has a 301-139 record as he is in his 15th year at Clemson.

South Carolina has a 4-0 record overall this season. The Lady Gamecocks are coming off a 87-81 overtime win over Duke in Durham on November 25. South Carolin won the Duke Invitational with a win over Missouri and Duke. Shaunzinski Gortman leads the Lady Gamecocks in scoring with a 18.0 ppg. average. Jocelyn is averaging 14.5 ppg. Gortman also leads the team in rebounding with a 8.0 rpg. mark. She also leads the squad in steals as she is averaging 2.8 steals per game.

This will be the 47th meeting between Clemson and South Carolina on the basketball court. Clemson leads the overall series 28-18. The Lady Tigers have won the last six meetings in the series dating back to the 1995-96 season. The Lady Tigers have a 19-4 record vs. the Lady Gamecocks when playing in Littlejohn Coliseum.
