CLEMSON, SC-The Clemson Lady Tigers will play host to N.C. State in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball game on Sunday, January 11, at 2:00 p.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum.
Clemson has an 11-3 record overall and a 1-2 mark in the ACC. N.C. State has an 8-8 record overall and a 0-3 record in league play. Clemson lost to Florida State 68-61 on Thursday night, and N.C. State lost to North Carolina 58-57 in Raleigh, NC.
The Lady Tigers are led in scoring by Lakeia Stokes with an 18.4 ppg. average. She also leads the team in rebounding with an 8.1 rpg. mark. Stokes also leads the team in assists (56) and steals (35).
N.C. State is led in scoring by Kaayla Chones with a15.2 ppg. average. She also leads the squad in rebounding with an 8.1 rpg. mark.
This will be the 65th meeting between Clemson and N.C. State on the basketball court.
N.C. State leads the overall series 39-25. Clemson has won nine of the last 15 games between the two schools.
Clemson Athletics is encouraging all Tiger fans to show their spirit and wear orange for the One Clemson…Solid Orange event as Head Coach Jim Davis’s Lady Tiger basketball team plays host to N.C. State. Clemson teams are currently 6-1 in 2003-04 One Clemson…Solid Orange events.
The first 500 fans attending the women’s basketball game game against N.C. State will receive a free One Clemson…Solid Orange…It’s About Pride t-shirt. One hour prior to the 2:00 pm tip-off, fans will have a unique opportunity to take pictures of themselves with the 2004 Chick-fil-A Bowl game trophy, as well as the 2003 NCAA Division I Golf National Championship Trophy. The trophies will be located on the East side of the Littlejohn Coliseum concorse. In addition, the first 5,000 fans will receive a complimentary One Clemson…Solid Orange Tiger rag.
The Clemson-N.C. State women’s basketball game will have One Clemson…Solid Orange ticket pricing. During the 2003-2004 season, selected men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer and baseball games, an additional fee will be applied to each game ticket sold for the designated One Clemson…Solid Orange event. The proceeds from these events will be used for facility development (within athletics) and a specific One Clemson University project, as directed by President Barker. The goal is produce a sell-out and spirited crowd, recognize the University’s wide accomplishments, promote all sports and show Clemson spirit.
To date, the Clemson University Athletic Department has generated $ 18,503 for the One Clemson Fund. At the final One Clemson…Solid Orange event of the year, the April 7th baseball game against the University of South Carolina, a check will be presented to Clemson University.
Clemson students will continue to receive complimentary admission to the One Clemson…Solid Orange events, however Clemson faculty and staff will be charged full admission price to these designated game events.
