Clemson Tied for Sixth in NCAA Track Championships

BATON ROUGE, LA – The Clemson women’s track and field team is currently tied for sixth place in the 2002 NCAA Track and Field Championships after two days of competition. The Tigers have 10 points in the team competition. UCLA leads all competition with 25 points.

The Tigers’ Jamine Moton won her first National Championship on Wednesday night in the hammer throw. The senior from Glassboro, NJ, set a NCAA, Collegiate, ACC, Clemson and Bernie Moore Stadium record with a mark of 220’6″.

Moton will compete on Sat., June 1, at 4:45 p.m. in the trials and finals of the shot put. She was the NCAA runner-up in that event in 2001. Two other members of the Clemson women’s track and field team, Gisele Oliveira and Sheri Smith, will compete in the trials and finals of the triple jump on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
