Clemson Tennis Ranked #7 In Latest Poll

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team earned its eighth straight top 10 ranking on Tuesday as the Tigers were listed seventh in the most recent Fila/ITA Tennis poll. Clemson boasts a 20-4 overall record for the 2007 season and was co-champion of the ACC regular season with a 10-1 conference mark.

Ani Mijacika moved up two positions to #25 in the singles poll. The freshman from Makarska, Croatia was recently named the ACC Freshman-of-the-Year and currently owns a 24-6 overall record. She went undefeated at 11-0 against conference opponents during the regular season and won 14 straight singles matches during the year.

Fellow rookie Estefania Balda was listed 76th in Tuesday’s individual rankings with a 14-7 record for the spring season, while junior Carol Salge was ranked #91.

In the doubles poll, Mijacika was ranked 16th with Federica van Adrichem. Clemson’s top pair has won five straight decisions and boasts a 15-4 record with four wins over ranked opponents. Mijacika was also listed 25th with Salge. The duo has played just three matches during the dual season but owns an 8-3 overall record.

Lastly, the Tiger tandem of Balda and Ina Hadziselimovic moved up six positions to #48 after posting a victory over the Hurricane team at flight two on Saturday to improve to 7-3.

Clemson is on a three-week hiatus after completing play at the ACC Championships last weekend. Invitations to the NCAA Tournament will be made on ESPNews on May 1 with regional action beginning on May 11.
