The Clemson Swimming and Diving Teams traveled to Boiling Springs, NC on Friday night and came away with a pair of wins. The men (11-2, 5-2 ACC) won 116-83, while the women (7-7, 2-5 ACC) won 111-93. The Tigers will conclude their dual-meet season Saturday at 1 p.m. against Duke University at McHugh Natatorium.
The Tigers had a strong meet against the Bulldogs, with several different faces scoring for the Tigers.
Freshman David Gordon, typically a distance swimmer, took wins in the 200 IM, 200 Free, and 200 medley relay. In fact, a pair of Clemson groups tied to win the men’s 200 medley relay, meaning eight Tigers won the event. Sophomore Andrew Cunningham won both the 500 free and 1000 free on the evening. Freshman Kyle Shoemaker also took home three wins, winning the 100 fly, 100 breast, and the aforementioned 200 medley relay. Eric Lane won the 50 free and 100 free as well.
On the women’s side, Crina Aeschbacher won both the 50 free and 100 free for the Tigers. Junior Michelle Parkhurst won the 1000 free and the 200 free relay, along with Jill Allen, Kelly Hendershot, and Rachel Hesler. Allen also came in second in the 200 IM. Rachel Regone won the 200 free, and Katrina Obas took the 100 breast win. Toni Kroll won the 500 free and took second in the 100 free.
With the win, the women’s team now has 200 program wins.
The Tigers will take on Duke at 1p.m. Saturday in McHugh for senior Day to close regular season competition.
