CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to Raleigh to compete against ACC foe N.C. State this Saturday in the final dual-meet of the season.
In their last meet, the women defeated both Emory and Georgia Tech while the men defeated Emory but fell to the Yellow Jackets. The women will enter Saturday’s meet with an overall record of 5-4-1 and an ACC mark of 2-2. The Clemson men’s team holds an overall record of 5-4 and an ACC record of 2-2.
Clemson’s Drew Scheerhorn and Mark Henly will look to lead the Tigers into Raleigh. Both men have performed well all year including contributing a pair of victories in the tri-meet against Georgia Tech and Emory. Scheerhorn won the 100 free with a time of 46.08, and Henly took first-place in the 200 back with a time of 1:49.46.
On the women’s side, the Tigers will be looking for Jenna Burtch and Mandy Commons to lead the way. Both women have performed well in their individual events as well as contributed to Clemson’s successful relays this year. Against Georgia Tech and Emory, Burtch claimed a first-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.24 and Commons won the 200 breast with a time of 2:20.84.
After a week off from competition, the Tigers will use this weekend’s meet as a final tune-up for the ACC championships. The women will compete in the conference meet from Feb. 21-23, and the men will compete from Feb. 28-Mar. 2. Both the men and women’s ACC Championships will be held at Campus Recreation Center Natatorium at the University of Maryland.
Saturday’s meet will be held at Casey Aquatic Center in Raleigh and the first event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
