Clemson Swimming And Diving Teams Complete Day Two At Georgia Invite

ATHENS, Ga. — The Clemson women’s swimming and diving team holds the seventh position after day-two of the Georgia Invitational with 266 points. The Tiger men have earned 276 points thus far in the competition and currently hold the fifth spot. Both the men and women will look to move up in the standings during the final day of competition at Gabrielsen Natatorium tomorrow.

The Clemson women’s 200 medley relay team of Lindsey Kroeger, Mandy Commons, Elise Thieler, and Jenna Burtch earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:42.40. Burtch also finished fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.36. Commons followed up her performance in the 200 medley relay as well by posting a fifth-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.88.

The Tiger men’s 200 medley relay team of Thomas Rappold, Gregor Govse, Rob Kummer, and Drew Scheerhorn finished eighth in the event with a time of 1:31.58. German Martinez posted a fourth-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 50.11, while teammate Thomas Rappold earned the eighth-spot in the event with a time of 51.63. Craig Thomas finished the 1m diving competition in sixth -place with a score of 270.80. The men’s 800 free relay team of Scheerhorn, Brent Hitchcock, Mark Henly, and Travis Taylor finished seventh in the event with a time of 6:49.49.

Both the men and women’s swimming and diving teams will compete in the final day of action tomorrow with the first event scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
