Clemson Swimming and Diving Hosts Home Meet Friday

Nov. 7, 2007

The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in a swimming meet at McHugh Natatorium at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9. This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

The SCAD Bees are an NAIA institution based in Savannah, Ga. They are a part of the Blue Grass Mountain conference and finished 2006-07 ranked third in the NAIA. Both their men’s and women’s teams are 2-2 on the young season, each with a loss to highly-ranked Emory University. The Bees are coached by Scott Rabalais, who is in his fifth season at SCAD.

The Tigers enter the meet at 5-1 (3-1 ACC) on the men’s side, while the women are 1-5 (1-3 ACC). On Saturday, the Tigers split with Rival South Carolina, with the men winning 206-91 and the women edged 157-143.

This will be the Tigers final dual meet before heading to Chapel Hill for the Nike Cup, which the men won in 2005. Last season, both men’s and women’s placed third. That meet will take place from Nov. 15-17.
