Clemson Swimming and Diving Completes Day Three at ACC Championship

The Clemson women’s swimming and diving team ended Day Three in seventh place overall with 160 points at the 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.

Aurelie Gresset recorded her best time of the season in the 400 IM (4:30.64), which was good for a 19th-place finish. Jen Grove set a season-best time of 55.80 in the 100 fly to win her finals heat, and place 17th overall. Grove’s time was good for sixth-place overall in Clemson history.

Kim Routh, fresh off her 500 free victory on Thursday, recorded her fastest time of the year in the 200 free (1:40.34), setting an NCAA “B” Qualifying time, and earning Clemson nine team points for her ninth-place overall finish.

Aurelie Gresset set her season best in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.27 in the preliminary rounds.

Nikki Deering set a season-best time in the 100 back (57.94) in the preliminary rounds, and earned Clemson a team point with her 16th-place finish in the finals. Shastain Leathers earned five team points for Clemson with her No. 12 finish in the three-meter diving event with a score of 404.95, and Jessica Watcke earned three points for her 14th-place finish (383.65).

Clemson set a season-best time in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:48.20, which also earned the Tigers 26 team points.

The ACC Championships conclude on Saturday with the 200-backstroke, 100-freestyle, 200-breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650-yard freestyle, platform diving and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
