Clemson Splits Tennis Matches

HOUSTON, TX – Clemson defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 4-3, and lost to Rice 5-2, at the Rice Men’s Tennis Invitational late Friday night.

Clemson is now 17-6 on the year and have won 11 of its last 13 matches. The Tigers will continue play in the Rice Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. Team placement or finishes are not being kept at the invitational.

In the Louisiana-Lafayette contest, Damiisa Robinson won at number four singles over Amanjot Singh 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 in clinching the match and giving the Tigers the 4-3 win.

Later in the evening, Rice’s doubles team and brothers, Richard Barker and William Barker defeated Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins at number one doubles 8-4. The pair later won their respective singles matches in leading the Owls over the Tigers 5-2. The doubles team of Barker and Barker are ranked number one in the nation.
