Clemson Set to Travel for Ted Nelson Invitational Saturday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track & field team is set to travel for its first road meet of the 2017-18 indoor season Saturday. The Tigers head to College Station, Texas, for Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitational. The meet is slated for 1 p.m. (EST), and will broadcast on WatchESPN.com at 3 p.m. The meet will host Texas A&M, Abilene Christian, Army West Point, Clemson, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, UT Arlington and UT-San Antonio.

The Tigers return to College Station, Texas, for the first time since the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, where Chris McBride, Jeffrey Green and Grace Barnett concluded their indoor seasons as Second Team All-Americans. The Aggies are set to again host this year’s NCAA Indoor Championships.

Clemson is coming off an impressive performance at the Orange & Purple Classic which was highlighted by junior middle distance runner John Lewis, who shattered the program and facility record in the 1,000m with a time of 2:21.96, besting Terrance Harrington’s 1985 Clemson record of 2:22.42. For his performance, Lewis was named the ACC’s Track Performer of the Week. The Tigers posted five first-place finishes at last week’s home meet.
