Clemson Returns to Course at US Collegiate Championship in Alpharetta, GA

Clemson, SC – Corbin Mills will lead the Clemson golf team into the 15-team United States Collegiate Golf Tournament at the Golf Club of Georgia’s Lakeside Course on Sunday. The 54-hole event runs Sunday through Tuesday on the par 72 layout that is 7,017 yards in length.

Clemson has won two of the previous four United States Collegiate Tournaments and is technically the defending champion. The last time the tournament was held was the Spring season of 2009. It was moved to the fall for the first time this year.

Clemson, Georgia Tech, 2009 NCAA Champion Texas A&M, Southern California, UCLA, Washington, California, South Carolina, Florida State, Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest, East Tennessee State, Kent State and Georgia State highlight the national field.

The event will be televised by Comcast Sports Southeast, which serves more than six million households in 13 states. It is also the only college tournament that provides caddies to the players.

Corbin Mills will be Clemson’s number-one player for the tournament. The sophomore has a 74.17 stroke average for the year, best on the team. He is coming off an eighth place finish at The Brickyard where he had opening and closing rounds of 69.

David Dannelly also will be in the lineup and is Clemson’s second best golfer in terms of stroke average with a 75.00 figure. He finished 15th at the Carpet Classic in his first career event for Clemson. He had a 67 in the opening round, the top round by a Tiger so far this year.

Sophomore Crawford Reeves, a starter last year on Clemson’s 16th ranked team, will return to the lineup this week. He sat out The Brickyard. He finished 23rd at the Carpet Classic in the first event of the year.

McCuen Elmore will be in the tournament. The junior has played in each event so far this year and has a 75.56 stroke average. He finished 11th at the Carpet Classic and 25th at The Brickyard. He has three rounds under par this year, most on the team. Elmore had a hole in one on the par four 10th hole at Cross Creek Plantation during qualifying for this tournament.

Brewer Bradshaw will be Clemson’s fifth player in the tournament. He finished 21st as an individual at The Brickyard in Clemson’s most recent tournament, then won the team qualifier for the final spot this past Thursday.
