Clemson Relays Slated For Saturday At The Rock Norman Track Complex

The Clemson track and field teams will compete in the 2003 Clemson Relays to be held this Saturday at the Rock Norman Track Complex. The meet will feature seven collegiate teams, 15 high school squads and the Tiger Relays for elementary school students. The Clemson Relays will begin at 10:00 AM with the men’s hammer throw, women’s javelin throw, boys high school long jump and girls high school high jump. The running events will commence at 10:30 AM with the running of the girls high school 4x800m relay. Saturday’s meet will conclude with the women’s and men’s 4x400m relays, scheduled for 5:10 PM and 5:20 PM, respectively.

Saturday’s collegiate field includes teams from Bowling Green State University, Furman University, Georgia Tech, Iona College, University of Georgia, Western Carolina University and host Clemson University. The high school competition will include teams from Batesburg-Leesville, Blue Ridge, Daniel, Greer, J.L. Mann, Laurens, Mauldin, North Henderson, Northside, Richland Northeast, Seneca, Spartanburg, West Ashley, West Hall and Westside High Schools.

The Clemson Relays will also be the kickoff for the seventh-annual Clemson Tigers Relays for the Oconee-Pickens Elementary School children. Students from the third, fourth and fifth grades will compete in 8×75 yard relays during the track meet. The schools that will be competing this Saturday are Central Elementary, Hagood Elementary, Six Mile Elementary and Tamassee-Salem Elementary.
