Aug. 17, 2000

CLEMSON, S.C. – The 2000 Tiger volleyball team is ranked 27th in the preseason poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Clemson finished the 1999 season with a #22 ranking after winning the ACC regular season crown and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Clemson was one of two ACC teams ranked in the preseason poll. The Tigers received 97 votes in the national poll, while the University of North Carolina, who defeated Clemson in the finals of the ACC Tournament last year, was picked 26th with 132 votes.

“We are very pleased with the ranking because of last year’s success. It is an indication of the respect others have for our team,” head coach Jolene Jordan-Hoover said.

The Tigers concluded last season with a 31-3 record and earned their fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament in seven years. Clemson will open the season September 1-3 at the Notre Dame Tournament, where the team will face 15th-ranked Brigham Young University and 28th-ranked Notre Dame as well as Fairfield University.
