Clemson Ranked #25 in Sports Weekly Preseason Baseball Poll

Clemson, SC – Clemson is ranked #25 in Sports Weekly’s 2009 preseason coaches poll, released last week. It marks the 21st consecutive season that Clemson has earned a top-25 national ranking by one of the three major polls. Louisiana State is atop the Sports Weekly poll. Other ACC teams ranked include #2 North Carolina, #9 Florida State, #12 Georgia Tech, and #14 Miami (FL).

The Tigers, who are also ranked #19 in the preseason Baseball America poll, had a 31-27-1 record in 2008, but they return eight starters in the field and four of their top-five starting pitchers in 2009. The Tigers will open the 2009 season against Charlotte at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on February 20.
