CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball will travel to Bloomington, IN to take on the Indiana University Hoosiers in the 2012 edition of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Clemson (0-5) and Indiana (5-1) will tip at 7:00 pm in Assembly Hall.

This is the sixth installment of the inter-conference battle, with the ACC winning the first four before the Big Ten earned a tie last season. Clemson is 2-3 in the event all-time, and fell to Indiana in 2010 at Littlejohn Coliseum. In 2011, Illinois won in Littlejohn, 61-50. Clemson defeated Northwestern in both 2008 and 2009 for its two wins in the event.
The game will be the fourth in a row away from home for the Tigers, who return to Littlejohn on Dec. 2 against Jacksonville. This contest will be the Lady Tigers’ first appearance in the state of Indiana in school history.
Clemson and Indiana have met just twice in history, with Clemson winning in 1979, 77-58, and IU winning the aforementioned contest in 2010.
Danaejah Grant enters the game as Clemson’s leading scorer at 14.0 points per game. The freshman is also third on the team at 5.6 rebounds per game, and leads all league freshmen in scoring. Fellow freshman Jonquel Jones leads the team and ranks seventh in the ACC in rebounding at 9.0 per game.
Clemson has held three opponents to fewer than 60 points, and two to just 49 points and average 5.6 blocks per game, 24th-best in the nation. However, the Tigers have struggled offensively, hitting just .324 percent of their field goal attempts. They’ve also put opponents on the line to the tune of 17.0 points per game. Four of the five games played this season have been decided by two possessions or less.
After playing the last three games in Texas and Indiana, the Tigers will play all six of their remaining games in the calendar year in South Carolina. Five of those are home contests, while the Dec. 19 matchup with Providence will take place in Myrtle Beach.
