Clemson’s women’s basketball team travels to Durham, NC to take on its fifth consecutive ranked opponent. The Lady Tigers take on the #3 Blue Devils from Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM. The game will not be broadcast by Clemson radio.

Clemson, 7-16 on the season, has lost 10 straight after opening league play with a victory on January 9. The Lady Tigers have faced four straight ranked opponents heading into Thursday’s matchup with Duke. Clemson lost to #6 North Carolina, then lost 87-82 to a #21 Maryland squad in Clemson. The Lady Tigers also lost at Florida State (#24) and to #18 Georgia last time out.

The Lady Tigers have not won at Duke since the 1994-95 season, when Clemson claimed an 88-82 win in overtime. Jaci Stimson scored 25 points that day for the Lady Tigers. Duke still trails Clemson 32-26 all-time in the series, but has won the last seven games overall.

Reggie Maddox recovered from a scoreless game at Georgia to tie a career-high with 18 points against Georgia. She leads the team in scoring (9.7), assists (77), and steals (41), and is second on the team in rebounding (5.0) and blocked shots (18). Fellow junior college transfer Tasha Phillips has held the hot hand lately, as the Campbellsville, KY native is eight for her last 11 attempts from beyond the three-point line. She scored 19 points at Florida State last week.

Red-shirt freshman Maxienne White is coming off a career night. The Pensacola, FL native scored 13 points and hit 5-9 shots. She also contributed seven rebounds. She has started the last four games for Clemson inside, and is averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during that short span.

Duke enters Thursday with a 23-2 overall record, 9-1 in the ACC. The lone conference loss for the Blue Devils was to a top 10 North Carolina team in Chapel Hill. Duke’s only other loss this season was in November to a ranked Notre Dame team.

The Blue Devils have been led by ACC Player of the Year nominee Monique Currie. The junior forward averages 18 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She also has 58 steals to her credit. Three other Duke players average double figures, including Wanisha Smith (11.4), Mistie Williams (10.8), and Jessica Foley (10.5).

Duke is one of the top shot-blocking teams in the country, thanks in large part to 6-7 sophomore center Alison Bales. She has 95 blocks to lead the ACC with an average of 3.8 per game. The Blue Devils have also been outstanding on the boards this season, holding a +9.9 rebounding margin.
