Clemson Opens ACC Play on the Road This Weekend

CLEMSON, SC—The #20-ranked Clemson men’s tennis team will play at Miami on Friday and at Florida State on Sunday in the Tigers’ first Atlantic Coast Conference action of the season.   Clemson will meet #70 Miami at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Coral Gables, FL.   The Tigers will play #28 Florida State on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in Tallahassee, FL.    Clemson has an 11-2 record overall this season.   The Tigers are ranked 25th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll.        Individually for the Clemson men, Yannick Maden is ranked 41st in the ITA singles listing.    In doubles, Maden and his brother Dominique are ranked 11th nationally. Yannick Maden was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performance last week.    Against UNC-Wilmington, Maden and his brother Dominique Maden started the day with a upset win an 8-2 upset win over No. 15 Kosta Blank and Chris Coopride at the top doubles slot.   Yannick Maden followed that with a 6-2, 6-4 upset win over No. 22 Rafael Aita at number-one singles. Yannick Maden has a 17-4 record overall, and an 11-1 dual mark this spring.  Yannick and his brother Dominique have a 16-3 record in doubles.    Sophomore Hunter Harrington has a 12-5 record overall in singles while Austin Ansari is 11-3 this season.  Ansari is undefeated in dual matches with a 9-0 record.   Miami, ranked 70th nationally, has a 9-4 record overall this season.    Diego Soto has played number-one singles for the Hurricanes and has a 7-5 record this year.    Gabriel Flores and Wilfredo Gonalez are both 9-3 this season.   The Seminoles will play at Georgia Tech Friday.     Florida State, ranked 28th nationally, has a 12-3 record overall.    Dominic Controne has a 22-8 record overall in singles.   He is 12-3 in dual matches this year.
