CLEMSON, S.C. —The Clemson track and field season started with a bang on Friday at the Clemson Opener. The first meet of the 2022-23 campaign featured several new Tigers eager to make their presence felt, as well as a strong group of returners ready to pick up where they left off.
Most notably, Wanya McCoy broke a school and facility record in the 300 meter with his incredible time of 32.53 seconds. That mark is good for third-best in NCAA history. Kiara Grant also made her way into the Clemson record books, securing a 7.29 second 60 meter dash time, earning her a tie for eighth on Clemson’s all-time list.
The Clemson Opener marked the first of four home meets for the Tigers this season, with seven total meets on the schedule prior to the ACC Championship Meet beginning on February 23.
