Clemson Men’s Track And Field To Compete For Seventh Consecutive ACC Title

Feb. 20, 2003

The Clemson men’s track and field team will begin its quest for its seventh consecutive ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship this Friday morning. The 2003 conference meet is slated to be held this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22, at the Dick Taylor Track at Eddie Smith Fieldhouse.

The Tigers have won a total of 12 ACC indoor titles, with 11 of those championships under current head coach Bob Pollock. In the last 14 years, Clemson has never finished lower than third (1996), and has only finished second on two occasions (1994, 1995).

Twenty-three members of Clemson’s team rank among the ACC’s leaders, and six Tigers lead the league in their respective events. Clemson holds five ACC meet record, and five Tigers have been tabbed meet MVP since 1987. Two Tigers have earned indoor Rookie of the Year honors, including current junior Larry Griffin in 2001.
