Clemson Men’s Track And Field To Compete At Virginia Tech Challenge

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s track and field team will compete at the Virginia Tech Challenge this Saturday in Blacksburg, VA. The meet is slated to start at 10:30 a.m. with the men’s 5000m run followed by the men’s long jump at 11:00 a.m.

Last weekend, the Tigers’ 4x400m relay team of Jacey Harper, Otto Spain, Dwight Thomas and Ato Modibo set the seventh-fastest time in the nation (3:09.17) and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Tyson Invitational. Todd Matthews and Larry Griffin have also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 60m hurdles and 60m dash, respectively. Matthews is ranked third in the nation (7.79) while Griffin is 21st (6.72).

The Tigers were ranked tied for 23rd in the Feb. 5 Trackwire poll and are 10th in the Team Power Rankings.
