Clemson Men’s Track And Field To Compete At Virginia Tech Challenge

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s track and field team will compete at the Virginia Tech Challenge this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15. Fifteen schools are scheduled to compete at this weekend’s meet. They are: James Madison, Clemson, VMI, Liberty, North Carolina, Georgia, VCU, Appalachian State, Virginia, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Marshall, East Carolina, Hampton and Virginia Tech. This weekend’s meet will serve as the Tigers’ final tune-up prior to the ACC Championships that will be held Feb. 21-22 in Chapel Hill, NC.

Clemson’s competition will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday with the triple jump, which will feature Roy Cheney, Rashad Gardner, Brent Hobbs, Ryan Hunter, Scott Kautz and Chris Gross. George Kitchens and Grafton Ifill will compete in the 60m dash preliminaries at 6:00 PM, followed by Derek Gilson and Matt Lombardi in the weight throw at 6:30 PM.

The meet resumes on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM with the pole vault and long jump. Roy Cheney, Brent Hobbs. The action moves back out to the track at 3:10 PM as Grafton Ifill, Warren Eure and Robert Ibeh compete in the 200m. At 4:15 PM, Ryan Fenton and David Smith will compete in the 3000m.
