Clemson Men’s Track And Field Team Set To Compete At Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s track and field team is set to compete at the 2004 Notre Dame Meyo Invitational this weekend in South Bend, IN. The Tigers will face student-athletes from Alabama, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, Missouri, Notre Dame, Penn State and Wisconsin. The Tigers will begin competition on Friday at 5:00 PM.

Brent Hobbs, George Kitchens, Ryan Koontz and Kyle Shaw will be the first Tigers to compete at this weekend’s meet, as the long jump is slated to begin at 5:00 PM. At 5:30 PM, Danny Alge will represent Clemson in the weight throw, and Mitch Greeley will contest the pole vault at 6:00 PM. The first running event for the Tigers will be the 5000m, in which Itay Magidi and Matt Pimentel will compete. Koontz will conclude day one competition for the Tigers in the 1000m run at 8:50 PM.

On Saturday, Roy Cheney, Rashad Gardner, Arthur Hinton, Hobbs, Scott Kautz, Koontz, Lydell Perry and Shaw will all compete in the trials of the 60m hurdles at 10:30 AM. The 60m dash trials will follow at 11:00 AM, featuring Clemson’s Tye Hill, Robert Ibeh, Kitchens and Ronald Richards. Jason Bell and Mickey Sheats will represent the Tigers in the triple jump at 11:00 AM, while Derek Gilson, Hobbs and Shaw compete in the shot put at the same time. Hobbs and Shaw return to action at 11:55 AM in the unseeded 400m dash. High jumpers Hinton, Koontz and Adam Linkenauger will begin the afternoon session at 1:00 PM. The finals of the 60m hurdles and 60m dash will take place between 2:00 PM and 2:10 PM, followed by the 400m dash at 2:45 PM in which Michael Bolling, Warren Eure, Gardner and Kautz will compete. At 3:15 PM, Brown, Cheney, Eure, Hill, Ibeh, Perry and Richards take to the track in the 200m, then Ryan Fenton, Clay Pendleton and Derrick Wyatt compete in the 3000m at 3:25 PM. Clemson will compete in the 4x400m relay at 4:05 PM to round out competition at the meet.
